All restaurants in Dubai offering delivery must provide shade for riders over the summer.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) sent a circular to all venues in Dubai confirming the decision.
Effective from Thursday June 15, 2023, and lasting until September 15, all establishments providing delivery services, including restaurants, shopping malls, and cloud kitchens, are required to provide dedicated rest areas within their facilities for delivery motorbike drivers.
The initiative aims to offer delivery drivers a suitable space to rest enhancing driver safety, well-being, and overall work quality.
DET said: “Rest areas can improve their work quality by enabling them to rest in between deliveries, resulting in better focus and fewer errors. Providing such areas demonstrates your commitment to driver welfare and safety, enhancing the reputation of your businesses.”
